FAQ’s
+ Why should I bring my puppy to the group in-person puppy socialisation sessions?
Lots of reasons! We'll help you understand your puppy's body language, help them build confidence, teach them to focus on you and help create an unbreakable bond together so they will give you and your puppy a great start to life!
+ From what age can my puppy attend the sessions?
All puppies from 8 weeks of age with their first vaccination can attend. In fact, the earlier, the better to make the most of the critical socialisation window which closes at around 12 weeks of age!
+ What's the maximim age for the puppy sessions?
You have until your puppy is 5 months of age to use your sessions.
+ I've been told not to take my puppy out until they are fully vaccinated so should I attend before this time?
Yes! The classes are held indoors, all surfaces are cleaned with vet grade F10 solution before the classes and everyone is asked to remove their shoes before entering the puppy area so it's safe for your puppy to attend the sessions before they are fully vaccinated.
+ Should I be taking my puppy out and about before they are fully vaccinated?
Yes! It's important to make the most of the critical socialisaiton window which closes at around 12 weeks of age however you must keep your puppy safe until they are fully vaccinated by keeping them up off the ground (i.e. carry them, put them in a trolley, put them on a blanket, keep them in the car where they can see out the window), don't let them meet unknown and/or unvaccinated dogs out and about. Create positive socialisation experiences by carefully watching their body language, going at your puppy's pace and pairing the new experiences with super tasty treats. You can invite super friendly, fully vaccinated dogs to your house for slow, calm, controlled introductions.
+ What's the difference between drop-in puppy sessions and the puppy sessions included in the Puppy Pre-School Programme?
The sessions are the same. There are four puppy training options: 1. A single drop-in puppy session; 2. A block of puppy sessions (buy 4, get the 5th free); 3. Puppy Pre-School Programme (6 puppy sessions, online puppy programme with 32 modules and membership to a private facebook group); and 4. Private in-home puppy consultation (contact us to chat about this).
+ How many people can I bring with me to the session?
You can bring as many as you like, however depending on how many people attend the session, we may ask extra people to stand in a separate area (you will still be able to see your puppy!).
+ My puppy has grown up with littermates and has met my resident dog, should I still bring them?
Yes! Puppies will often be less confident in a new environment with unknown puppies so it's important to provide them with a range of experiences to build a confident dog.
+ How many puppies are in each session?
A maximum of 14 puppies which allows us to more closely match suitable puppies play mates in smaller groups during off leash play. We have plenty of space to ensure your puppy is never overwhelmed.
+ Will my puppy learn basic skills in the session?
We cover two to three basic skills each week. Videos of how to teach each skill are included in the online modules which are included in the full Puppy Pre-School Programme.
