“We tried a traditional puppy class at first but was disappointed with the lack of socialisation. We switched to Waggle Tails and the difference was COLOSSAL. My puppy experienced quality puppy plays in a safe environment and together with Kelly’s online training modules for the hoomans, has moulded her into a confident and happy puppy who is now smashing it out at our local dog park.

We travelled from Safety Bay to Osborne Park (55km) to attend these classes because the benefits of investing in the right training is everything and Kelly’s model was the best I could find. I have now enrolled in the online Ultimate Dog Programme for further training. Honestly people, Kelly’s amazing! Her doggo knowledge is next level.” (Louise Power, Perth, WA)

FAQ's

+ What does the full Puppy Pre-School Programme include?

6 in-person group puppy sessions, lifetime access to your online puppy programme with 32 modules plus membership to a private facebook group to get your questions answered personally by Kelly and network with other puppy parents.

+ When should I start the programme?

As early as possible! Lots of new puppy parents have reported that working through the online modules before their puppy arrives helps them feel prepared for their puppy's arrival, then it's just a case of implementing and tweaking things when their puppy joins their family! You can also start the programme after your puppy joins your family. If there are just a few specific puppy issues you'd like to resolve then you can set up a private, one-one consulation either via zoom or in person, just head over to the Contact page to talk to us directly.

+ When can I join the in-person sessions?

As early as possible! As soon as your puppy is 8 weeks with their first vaccination, you can start on any day which suits you best. As puppies in our Puppy Pre-School Programme attend the same group puppy sessions as our drop-in puppies, please check the Puppy Socialisation page for class availability.

+ Can I attend any location?

Yes! You can attend sessions at any location and you can mix and match - you don't have to attend all sessions at one location.

+ I've joined the full Puppy Pre-School Programme which includes 6 puppy sessions - do I need to attend all 6 puppy sessions in a row?

Not at all! The puppy sessions are flexible - you can attend at any time from when your puppy is 8 weeks until 5 months of age. No need to worry about missing a session!

+ Why should I bring my puppy to the group in-person puppy socialisation sessions?

Lots of reasons! We'll help you understand your puppy's body language, help them build confidence, teach them to focus on you and help create an unbreakable bond together so they will give you and your puppy a great start to life!

+ From what age can my puppy attend the sessions?

All puppies from 8 weeks of age with their first vaccination can attend. In fact, the earlier, the better to make the most of the critical socialisation window which closes at around 12 weeks of age!

+ What's the maximim age for the puppy sessions?

You have until your puppy is 5 months of age to use your sessions.

+ I've been told not to take my puppy out until they are fully vaccinated so should I attend before this time?

Yes! The classes are held indoors, all surfaces are cleaned with vet grade F10 solution before the classes and everyone is asked to remove their shoes before entering the puppy area so it's safe for your puppy to attend the sessions before they are fully vaccinated.

+ Should I be taking my puppy out and about before they are fully vaccinated?

Yes! It's important to make the most of the critical socialisaiton window which closes at around 12 weeks of age however you must keep your puppy safe until they are fully vaccinated by keeping them up off the ground (i.e. carry them, put them in a trolley, put them on a blanket, keep them in the car where they can see out the window), don't let them meet unknown and/or unvaccinated dogs out and about. Create positive socialisation experiences by carefully watching their body language, going at your puppy's pace and pairing the new experiences with super tasty treats. You can invite super friendly, fully vaccinated dogs to your house for slow, calm, controlled introductions.

+ What's the difference between drop-in puppy sessions and the puppy sessions included in the Puppy Pre-School Programme?

The sessions are the same. There are four puppy training options: 1. Full Puppy Pre-School Programme (6 in-person group puppy sessions, online puppy programme with 32 modules and membership to a private facebook group); 2. Drop-in group puppy sessions; and 3. Private in-home puppy consultation (contact us to chat about this).

+ How many people can I bring with me to the session?

To ensure both puppies and their people have the best experience, you can bring the handler of your puppy plus one other person, so a maximum of two people.

+ My puppy has grown up with littermates and has met my resident dog, should I still bring them?

Yes! Puppies will often be less confident in a new environment with unknown dogs so it's important to provide them with a range of experiences to build a confident dog.

+ How many puppies are in each session?

A maximum of 8 puppies - our small group classes allow us to support you one on one with your puppy while being able to closely match suitable puppies play mates in smaller groups during off leash play. We have plenty of space to ensure your puppy is never overwhelmed.

+ Will my puppy learn basic skills in the session?

We cover two to three basic skills each week. Videos of how to teach each skill are included in the online modules which are included in the full Puppy Pre-School Programme.

+ Where are the classes held and what do I bring?

The classes are held at K9 to 5 Littles Dog Daycare in Osborne Park and once you sign up, you'll receive an email straight away with everything you need to know, including what to bring.

+ Which days and times are the classes held?

Classes are held every Sunday throughout the year, including over the Christmas/New Year period, except for 27th December. at 9.30am, 10.45am and sometimes 12 noon. Each session follows the same structure so just pick the time which works best for you and your family.

+ I'm nervous about bringing my puppy to the first class - what should I expect?

The classes are loads of fun and we are here to support you and your puppy in the best way possible so don't worry! If you have any questions at any time please let us know how we can help.

+ I have already done lots of socialisation with my puppy and they are confident and happy, what's the next step?

Come and join our Silver Level One programme in Gwelup. This programme is for dogs of any age who are fully vaccinated. We will teach your puppy how to be well-behaved both at home and out and about so you can take them anywhere with you. Visit www.waggletails.com.au/dogtraining to learn more.

+ I still have questions about which option is best for me and my puppy - how do I contact you?

I'd love to hear from you and help you choose the best option for you and your puppy. Visit the Contact page to reach me!
