Puppy Trainer Perth

It was great having Kelly come to the house to train Dave, he responded so well to her calm and patient nature and would pretty much do anything she wanted him to from the get go. Kelly was also brilliant with our children, she really encouraged them to be fully involved in the training sessions. Thanks, Kelly, you helped us make giant training steps in a really short time. You’re a dog trainer superstar, would definitely recommend!

Puppy Training

Private in-home puppy training and socialisation

Puppy training is essential to show you how to prevent puppy issues from arising while shaping the behaviours you want.  We help you understand how dogs learn, how you can best communicate with your puppy and how to set your puppy up with structure and boundaries to ensure a happy puppyhood together.

Private, one-on-one puppy classes are held in the comfort of your own home with one or more family members.  Puppy Kindergarten and Ultimate Puppy Packages include a  clicker, toy and a tailored, easy to follow training plan to track your puppy's progress, checklists and handouts.  You will also receive electronic pdf copies of Ian Dunbar's 'Before You Get Your Puppy' and 'After You Get Your Puppy' and Sophia Yin's 'Perfect Puppy in 7 Days'.

It is recommended that you attend puppy socialisation sessions as soon as you bring your puppy home.  Your puppy will have the opportunity to play and interact with other puppies and you will learn how to identify and manage appropriate play between puppies. We currently offer group Puppy Pre-School classes at Central Bark Dog Daycare, Wangara - please visit our Group Classes page for more details.

puppy essentials (1 x 90 minute session)

This one-off session is held either before your puppy arrives or a few days after you bring your new puppy home.  We discuss the most important and urgent puppy issues, such as the importance of early socialisation, how to socialise your puppy effectively, equipment, sleeping arrangements, toilet training basics, crate training, how to handle puppy biting and jumping up, and the beginnings of asking your puppy to sit, lie down and settle and come when called.

Puppy Essentials is followed by either Puppy Kindergarten or Ultimate Puppy (details below).

Puppy kindergarten (6 x 60 minute sessions)

This is a comprehensive programme for puppies 8-12 weeks old who have completed the Puppy Essentials session.

You will learn about the most urgent puppy issues while building a solid relationship to ensure your puppy gets the best start to life.  We cover basic training principles (Sit, Down, Wait, Look, Leave It, Drop, Come, Go to a Mat), how to build focus, household matters, toilet training, crate training, puppy biting and handling, basic obedience, safe socialisation, interacting with children and resident pets, interactive games to build your relationship, the beginnings of loose leash walking and any issues which come up during the training programme.

Ultimate puppy training (10 x 60 minute sessions)

For puppies over 12 weeks old who have completed the Puppy Essentials session.

In addition to reviewing the topics covered in Puppy Kindergarten, we build on teaching your puppy to be calm and attentive, take obedience to the next level by increasing distractions outside the home and continue to strengthen the bond between you and your puppy.  Training sessions include loose leash walking, politely greeting visitors, front door manners, teaching your dog to come back to you when called, extending the Sit and Down, impulse control (Leave It and Wait) in addition to addressing any specific issues you might be having.
